Troops: An Overview of Classes

Troops are your single greatest resource. Without them, you will be laid bare to face the wild world unprotected, stagnant and without purpose… Okay, perhaps not that far, but you get the picture. They’re important!

As the supreme commander of your base, your discernment, vigilance and ability to skillfully and carefully deploy your forces will ultimately decide whether you’re a conqueror or just another victim.

And while you should never be afraid to take the leap of faith when trying new strategies, it’s critical to understand the strengths and weaknesses of your forces so you can make the most informed decision possible. For example, just sending 5,000 Operatives blindly into a fray would be incredibly foolish, considering they are greatly overpowered against every other unit, while sending a combined force of Infantry and Artillery against a scouted group of known Vehicles could very well be an ideal move!

It’s also important to remember that troops require huge amounts of upkeep and resources in order to function. They are also vulnerable to annihilation should anyone want to sneak attack you in the night!

As Commander, you should always train and gather your troops with a set purpose. Have a clear plan of action and a managed plan B should things go astray! Your troops are more than a number, they can be your greatest asset or your greatest liability!

There are four classes of troops in World War Rising. Each class has three levels of strength, which you will unlock as you progress up the ladder of ultimate achievement!

They are as follows:

Infantry

Strong Vs: Artillery / Operative

Weak Vs: Vehicle / Wall Defenses

Infantry units are definitely the most prevalent and common in the game, as they’re basically the default unit. Many bases focus on training up as many as possible.

From a resource standpoint, Infantry are a solid and cheap option when you’re starting to branch out into new areas of operation. And when correctly balanced with the other three unit groups, their power in numbers can be a decisive factor on the battlefield.

Infantry require very large amounts of energy, far more than any other unit. This means that ensuring your base has sufficient power plants to make up for the energy being consumed to train infantry is vital when looking at the big picture.

At the lower levels, infantry really only have one thing going for them… speed. What they lack in health, attack, and defense they make up for in how fast they can get across the world and surprise an unsuspecting foe! However, this great speed will slowly start to diminish as you get into the higher levels of the infantry class!

Along with their mastery of the Artillery and Operative units, Infantry are an excellent use of resources should you need to get a mission done within a limited timeframe.

Vehicle

Strong Vs: Infantry / Operative

Weak Vs: Artillery / Wall Defenses

Jeeps, Tanks, Motorbikes, Half Tracks. All these wonders of the modern world fall under the vehicle class in World War Rising!

They are an extremely vital ingredient for your operations, since without them, your troops would literally be forced to traverse on foot or horseback. As they’re designed to take small arms fire with ease, these metal monsters can be put up against Infantry and Operative Classes without issue!

When they’re paired against Artillery, however, their large size and poor reaction time rears its nasty head. Having a balance of Infantry to support the operation will always be a sound decision!

Vehicles require enormous amounts of wood and food in order to train. You can expect to handle  between 35,000 – 135,000 units of wood or more for every 1,000 Vehicles! So maintaining a healthy collection of Lumber Mills will be imperative for you to continue the constant roll of wheels!

Well-supported, Vehicles are an excellent asset to any operation and should be used to devastating effect!

Artillery

Strong Vs: Vehicle / Operative

Weak Vs: Infantry / Wall Defenses

As a truly great man once said before the fumes of war filled the air, “Artillery adds dignity, to what would otherwise be an ugly brawl.”

The Artillery is the very essence of power and strength on the battlefield. It has been the sole decider on countless occasions and should be used to crush your foes at every opportunity!

Be it Operatives or Vehicles, they can do little more but stand in awe of the majesty of these magnificent beasts of war. But as incredible as artillery are… they are not without flaw. Sigh…

Infantry, which is again the most prevalent of units in the game, will always have a huge advantage over your artillery. This is a rather saddening truth and one you can’t do anything about!

So while artillery is nearly invincible, it MUST be supported and watched over, and you should limit how much you truly rely on it. A good strategy is to keep your artillery at under 30% of the overall attack, since you will more times than not be up against large numbers of pesky Infantry!

Operative

Strong Vs: Wall Defenses

Weak Vs: Infantry / Vehicle / Artillery

These self-imposed adrenaline junkies… the sneaky, covert masterminds of sabotage and chaos!

Your Operatives are the stones that will crack the nuts of your foes! Their ability to get inside walls and towers is awe inspiring, while their uncanny knack for bypassing and destroying traps, landmines, turrets and barbed wire is absolutely insane.

But just like the other classes we’ve discussed here, these teams of thrill seekers are also not without defect.

Though their weakness may be the most apparent as they are easily overpowered by ALL of the other classes, they are an ideal option for gaining access to bases the world over. But without strong support from the other classes, their battles would be incredibly short-lived at best.

Lastly, it seems the rumor that their hearts truly are made of stone are true, especially considering they need so much of it!

In fact for every 1,000 lvl 1 operatives trained, they will require 45,000 units of stone! And it only gets worse at lvl 2, with 1,000 operatives requiring a whopping 95,000 units of stone!!!

As stone is already a pretty limited resource and is constantly used to improve your base, it’s important to use this class carefully and strategically.
