OK, so maybe farming life isn’t the best life for most of us that play World War Rising, but it has become a necessary one.  The number one item everyone needs no matter where we are Region-wise or how far along we are Command Center wise, Research wise or any otherwise you can think of is Resources.

Resources are necessary for crucial growth in our accounts.  Every building and almost every research requires resources. In addition, gathering on tiles gives the option for many other items such as gold, emblems, and tokens, depending on the technique that you use.

Tile Types

There are two main types of tiles from which you can gather.  There are the typical, respawning resource tiles that you find everywhere, and there are syndicate stockpiles that the syndicate must first be killed to generate the tile to gather upon.  Resource tiles currently (depending on your regions time-line are available for tier one to tier

Resource Tiles

Farm

These tiles give the food resource as well as more gold when using the mercenary gathering method.  These tend to be the most available tiles.

Lumber Mill

The resource Wood can be found in Lumber Mill tiles.

Quarry

Quarry tiles provide Stone resources.

Mine Shaft

Mine Shafts are where the resource Metal can be gathered.

Power Plant

Power Plants provide the Energy Resource. They can be found on land or in water locations.

Syndicate Stockpiles

These tiles appear only after a Syndicate has been killed.  They are often a treasure trove of materials for gear and tokens and resources.  Each syndicate type varies what is offered, often to a large degree.  Be sure to check which items are available for each stockpile.

Gathering Methods

Although there are other ways to gather, let’s look at the two main methods.

The Troop Method

The first and most basic way that everyone learns at a Command Center 5 is to send all the troops you have to a tile to get back what you can.  Later this method becomes refined and you realize sending a march of Ops troops increases your load capacity. This can be seen when you click on a troop type in The Training Grounds.

Training Grounds ==> Click on Troop Type ==> Stats ==> Load

This location is an excellent spot to view troops differences in general.

The larger the march, the increase of gathering items.  Here is a good time to use gathering boosts to save time also.  Keep in mind that on Syndicate Stockpiles, sending a march of troops is the only way to gather.  Although an Ops march can be slow, it is well worth the return. As a hint to speed up the march, try sending one Fokker or one Dragonfly Mercenary Troop to speed up the march a bit (Also a good trick for an attack march).  This Method is the one to use when your main goal is to collect resources.

The Mercenary Troop Method

This method is common with smaller players that do not purchase as many packs and is an excellent way to assist in event completion.  While the regular troop method is the way to go for gathering resources, this method is best for collection items. In the early days, I farmed level four tiles nonstop to gather emblems for my gear.  (Level four tiles give out level 3 emblems, whereas other level tiles give out level 1 or 2 emblems). This method provides items including not only emblems, but large amounts of materials, dossiers, gold, and tokens.  The increase of tokens allows for the completion of many events, which then adds to the goodies you obtain.

To practice this method, simply send one Fokker Mercenary Troop to any tile.  Click on the level one resource option, send your one merc troop, and voila! People also use a dragonfly merc, but in my opinion, the Fokkers are a much cheaper route.

Keep in mind that part of the key with this method, the longer you can remain on a tile the better!  I don’t recommend using any gathering speed boosts if you plan to gather in this manner.

Farming Etiquette

Farming Etiquette, while it should certainly be mentioned, is unique to each region or event. On average, the majority of regions seem to have “No Tile Hitting” Rules (or Heavy Suggestions).  This is because most Regions would like to see the region itself stronger to compete in RvR. There are always exceptions, mind you, and this etiquette is more of a personal choice for that reason.

Remember that most regions open tile hitting ANYONE during kill events, whether they have no tile hitting rules or not.

While keeping in mind that we farm to grow, we also need to keep in mind there are times that all need to farm.  Smaller accounts tend to farm nonstop as spenders often have enough resources and items from packs, however, it happens on occasion that there is a shortage of a tier resource.  All players should consider being flexible during these times. Why do you ask?

As much as I would like to think I win RvRs with my amazing trapping skills, this is not the case.  If bigs hit a growth ceiling, there is a problem for the region. Most games are played to win, and this one should be no different.   So, think strategy. Most bigs don’t mind people farming with the full march methods for the simple fact that the tiles regenerate in a timely manner.  The one merc method does not allow for this needed re-spawning during these RSS shortages. If the bigs do not have the RSS, they can not grow, therefore making it harder for your region to win.

The solution during these times especially is simple.  When farming with the merc method, simply farm lower tier tiles.  Level one and two tiles give roughly the same items when using the one merc method.  The bigs can get their resources on higher-level tiles, and everyone is happy.  Again, this is a GENERAL suggestion, but one that has worked well in many regions for compromise.

Conclusion

Whether you are a new player, old school, or even a returning player, I hope this has shed some light on farming and gathering on tiles.  While I know this article only skims the surface of all the amazing possibilities, feel free to join us in our Line and Discord communities for further tips and hints about gathering.  We’ll be there!
