When new troop tiers are released, it can be a pain having to exhaust or throw away all your troops to retrain new levels to stay competitive. With the new Sparring Arena building, we can continue to level the troops as new tiers come out instead of dismissing them, saving us time, resources, and speedups!
In this guide, we will cover:
- The Sparring Arena, including its purpose
- Promotion and Retraining
- Charts breaking down plan requirements also which level it needs to promote or retrain

Firstly, let’s discuss the purpose of the Sparring Arena and how it benefits your Base!
(October 21st, 2021)
With the Sparring Arena, you can change your strategy and customize your army to adapt to particular situations you may face or when the game changes to focus on one specific troop.
To level your Sparring Arena, the construction will require Sparring Arena Architectural Plans to level the building.
Then you will need Troop Training Manuals to promote or retrain your troops.
Also, as a reminder, remember that specialty buildings now are free to build with no Resources or Speedups, costing you 1 Gold or an instant build as long as you have the Sparring Arena Architectural Plans!
Sparring Arena Building Benefits
While leveling your Sparring Arena to promote and retrain troops, the building itself will also have its own set of passive stats towards your Base!
Sparring Arena Building stats
*stats below are at maxed level (level 10)
- 2,500,000% Troop Attack
- 1,500,000% Troop Health
- 2,875,000% Troop Armor

When entering the Sparring Arena, you will see two tabs, Troop Promotion, and Troop Retraining,
The promoting portion of the building allows you to promote your troops from one level to the next.
For example, you can promote your level 11 Operatives to level 12! Once new troop tiers are released, you can upgrade them to the next level once unlocked instead of depleting your troops and rebuilding your new troop type. Keep in mind that you will need Troop Training Manuals to do so.
The higher your building is, the higher the tier of promotion available. If your Troops are, say, level 10 and you want to promote them to level 12. You will need to raise them from 10 to 11 and then again from 11 to 12.
To further explain, we will use 100 Lv. 10 Operatives as an example for easy viewing.
Each troop so far requires 10 Troop Training Manuals. Since we need to get them to level 12, we will need 1,000 Troop Training Manuals to get to 11, then 1,000 to promote them from 11 to 12.
The troops are also at a 1:1 ratio. So if you promote 100 Lv. 10 Operatives, you will get 100 Lv. 11 Operatives, and so on.
Retraining allows you to gain more Troops of one specific type to another at the same level.
For example, suppose a future release is made, and it allows Operatives to be stronger, and you’d like your Base to have more Operatives than Artillery. In that case, you can then ‘retrain’ your Artillery and make them into Operatives, as long as they are the same tier type.
Keep in mind; It also has to be the same troop type regarding Nobles, Raiders, and Alpha troops.
To further explain, we will use 100 Lv. 12 Alpha Operatives and convert to Lv. 12 Artillery.
Each troop requires a singular Troop Training Manual to retrain. So it will take 100 Troop Training Manual to retrain 100 Lv. 12 Alpha Operatives to make Lv. 12 Artillery. They are also on a 1:1 ratio, so you will not lose out!

Now that we don’t have to waste our troops, it brings a new perspective to the game and allows us to change how our bases are built strategically.
When hitting bases, we can now convert troop types to make the most of the damages we inflict; it’s vital taking troop composition in mind.
