One of the biggest mysteries of the game, especially in the beginning, can be when to know if a region merge is coming. For players who feel the game has become dull, a merge is something that is hoped for. When you combine groups of players, things always get interesting. For others, the idea of merging with other regions can cause fear and anxiety. So when should you suspect a merge is coming? What exactly happens during a merge? Read on to find out!
When to Suspect a Merge
Has your region been getting slammed with new releases lately? Have they been coming out so fast you can hardly keep up with them? The game developers may be trying to catch your region up to another region that is ahead of you in preparation for a merge. Be suspicious if your blog consistently starts looking like this:
Before a merge happens, your titles will change. Titles that include the name of your region will drop that name. It may look like this:
What to Expect
Usually, there will be an RVR style tournament to help figure out which regions will merge. In the past, your normal RVR may have been with the same three or four regions. Sometimes, before a merge, you may have an RVR with those regions plus 10 new ones.
When it is time for the merge, there will be a blog post saying “Merge Coming Soon”. When you see this, if you are a defender, make sure you are shielded.
Slowly, people will be migrated over, and for a short time, you will have bases on both servers. Eventually, everyone will be moved to the new region.
Everyone who is not logged into the game when the merge happens will be shielded for 24 hours or until they log into the game. If you are logged into the game when your base is migrated, you will not be protected by this auto-shield.
Leaderboards will merge and your titles will switch names to your new region.
When the merge happens, there will be an instant battle for the new Control Point. Big players will be scouring the map looking for new targets. A lot of bases will be zeroed. People will scramble to find a good spot for their alliances. There will be some chaos for a short time. Don’t worry – things do settle down and return to normal.
How to Prepare for a Merge
Be Active in the Social Community
It helps a lot if you are part of the social community for the game. There is much to be said for the rumor mill. As soon as the rumors of a merge begin, people will start making connections. It becomes very political. Partnerships will form and deals will be made – all before the merge even happens. Be part of the community so you won’t be left out!
If you think a merge is coming, work with your team and beef up on that alliance research! Focus on the basics like Troop Health, Defense, and Attack. They are located at the bottom of the Alliance Combat tree.
Increase efforts in your individual research. Unless you plan on attacking people when you get to your new realm, focus on the defense trees like Stalwart.
Heroes, Squad, Buildings
Work on your base. Level up your buildings, heroes, and squad. Every additional boost percentage can help in your new region. Participate in events to earn prizes. These can assist you in building a stronger base.
A region merge can be an exciting thing! It’s a chance to meet new people and push yourself to become a better player. Have you been through a merge? Tell us about it in the comments below!
