Welcome to the fourth edition of Alpha Commanders

O+G and STP., Repeat Champions!

Today we are going to sit down with two different teams that won ACP this past month.  In the mid timeline, the regions with a command center 80 cap, STP. has reigned supreme once again with MadMong0 the new ACP Commander!  In the oldest timeline at a Command Center 100 cap, the O+G Alliance has also done it yet again, giving DarthVader00 his second ACP Commander Title.

The Pair are repeat champions.  In exciting interviews with both teams, I sat down and spoke with them about what winning ACP was like this time around.

“During a grueling event like ACP, it’s always encouraging to see teams pull together for the good of the region. The alliance becomes a revolving door, with people coming in to donate tokens and offer support. The kind words and gestures are invigorating, and provide motivation to keep going.”-HappySteph (Y0l0)

Preparation Makes All the Difference

I was fortunate enough to sit down with members of O+G and many of their guests that joined to help out during ACP.  In a more unique situation, I was also invited to join the team to experience their win first hand.

Being prepared for ACP is imperative.  While speaking with the team, J0m0t0 tells me, “we actually began preparing two weeks in advance by stocking up on mercenary troops, training crates, and loyalty for speeding in marches.  It was a collaborative effort by the whole team to be prepared as we could be.”

DarthVader00 (many know him as Destro on LINE App) tells me about how so many people ended up helping in O+G for the big event.  “It was funny, I didn’t even ask anyone.  People asked if we were going for it.  When I said we were, they asked if they could help.  It was great to see how many friends were willing to come together for this amazing ACP team that formed.”

I myself joined O+G for the ACP event about an hour before the event started.  Although it was hard to lose the Y0l0 tags for the event,  I was warmly welcomed by the O+G team. There was electricity in the air as more players joined.  Aimee, the amazing internal affairs coordinator for the team, welcomed each person immediately and began her task of organizing the situation as needed. The excitement was palpable as more and more of the game’s best players joined O+G for the event.

“ACP always gets such a buzz in the air in our alliance. Everyone can contribute, regardless of power number or cc level. Whether it be to help with the fight at the actual ACP, stockpiling stamina to hit bosses and get tokens, or even just using loyalty to speed marches when being rallied. ACP is always such a team focused event that it can’t be won single handedly, it’s always an event when I feel most proud to be an OG.”  -Aimee (O+G)

And So It Begins

As is the norm for ACP, the event didn’t begin right away, but that didn’t stop the AC chatter and last minute checks to make sure plans were in place.  People posted the cords for the raid bosses that DarthVader00 would need tokens from, and the ACP team discussed where to port.  Gear was checked, boosts set, and go time arrived!

Suddenly there was an influx of glowing blue bases porting into the ACP region and around the ACP itself and the raid bosses there.  DarthVader00 ported in and took ACP first.  Directions were stated in AC for fill and the battles began!

The Balance Has Returned

In the past, one of the major complaints about ACP is that it was too defensively based.  Most players realized that the first team would more than likely hold for the long haul.  Mayhem, the three-time ACP winner himself came to assist his region teammate in O+G.  Mayhem states, “the balance in this ACP was so much better.  A well-timed double rally would have booted us out.  We haven’t seen that type of balance in ACP and it was so much more exciting.”

DarthVader00 agrees.  “Having the right balance encourages more people to fight and try themselves.”  He goes on to say, “We tested defending in a CP in the Guacamole Region previously to the event.  We knew that this would be an exciting ACP this time around.”

DarthVader00 continues, “We even got to play around with gear a little.  It showed again how important the squad is and the fact that gear isn’t as important.  The boosts from gear is marginal compared to the region boosts that the team maxed out in the first hour.  Not only were O+G members contributing, but other alliances from the region would pop in to donate tokens from raid bosses as well.  It’s a substantial boost and is much more important than gear.  If not for the team working so hard to get that taken care of, it would not have gone as well for us.”

The End of the Event for O+G

After 12 hours and 34 minutes, DarthVader00 gave the instructions to pull from ACP to allow other alliances the chance to battle for placement.  The team, excited knowing victory was at hand, began to look for other fun targets to destroy.

“Once you have a good fill, you only need small tweaks, “ J0m0t0 speaks up as we discuss what troops the team seemed to favor in the event.

“Every time the ACP is hit, we look to see what troops were lost and how to counter what was sent.  We were booted twice, once by Sefi and once by REBL.  I know we had a good fill, but I needed more attack, so I added another troop type to the mix that ended up working really well,” DarthVader00 says as he recalls the battles that took place.

DarthVader00 adds before the interview is over, “the fun part of the event was having big and small players together and helping.  I was so impressed with a visiting trap that came over and helped actually fill CP.  I am very grateful to everyone that came to help.”

It is always great fun participating and winning an ACP. Awesome teamwork always gets the job done. From supplying tokens to filling quickly everyone provides great contribution. Won the event in Paratrooper gear which was the first ever gear set and available to the newest of regions to show that anything is possible and inspire others too! We are looking forward to the next one! -DarthVader00 (O+G)

Congratulations to DarthVader00 and the O+G Alliance for their May 2020 ACP victory!

Fighting For the Alpha Control Point with STP.

In my round table discussion with members of STP. alliance, I was shown yet again what a team-oriented and quick thinking alliance they are.  I asked the new ACP Commander of the cc80 capped regions to tell me about the planning STP. did to prepare.

“Being able to adjust quickly is so important.  We have an amazing team able to do that.  This alliance is hands down the best alliance I have ever been privileged to be a part of.” –The Karatekid

MadMong0 laughs and says, “This time we actually decided a few hours before that we wanted to try to win the event.  The past few RvRs had been rough.  Troops were being decimated in CPs with the new squad stats and were lacking troop stats to defend properly.  I built the latest contraband equipment and saw that the stats that had been missing were in the gear.  We got everyone together and went for it.!”

Northerngirl chimes in, “We spend a lot of time being ready for events like this just in case.  We don’t always do regular Control Point battles so that alliance members have the troops they need for the big show.”

We used a LINE app call to help assist in the battle and playing, the group tells me.  We had at least six people on at all times throughout the time we held.  XxSkandxX tells me, “Open communication really helps. It’s a major time saver.”

Exciting Battles

ACP began the usual way for STP., glowing blue command centers porting in around ACP (although it looked suspiciously like a regular CP) and MadMong0 took it with a solo march using Hannibal.  His teammates quickly reinforced and as MadMong0 tried to change to a defensive fill, he realized that the new Molotov squad would not go to help reinforce.  MadMong0 says, “I tried to add him but I kept getting a message that said, “Squad overcapacity.”  I knew this was not the case but had to improvise quickly and send Hannibal back instead.”

MadMong0 tells me that he was not able to be used in ACP the entire event.  Some scheming and re-planning had to be done to accommodate the glitch.

STP. has discovered they are extremely good at game plans on the fly during this event, and the members joining me for our discussion all agreed the whole alliance was amazing at doing what needed to be done.  BazzaBella discusses how the Raid Bosses were also glitching.  “They weren’t dropping anything, “ she says.  “Alliance members that normally help that way we’re unable to.”

“Having the leadership that knows their alliances weaknesses and strengths and having a successful ACP with everyone being able to participate and have fun is important.” –Northerngirl (STP.)

Instead the members of STP. dug in their heels and got to work.  Northerngirl chimes in, “it was amazing to have roughly 35 members adding troops or squads off and on throughout the event.  So many family members made amazing sacrifices for the team,” she says proudly.

Northerngirl tells me, “there was incredible activity this ACP.  We had non stop solos and rallies for the first few hours of the event.  It was great gameplay as we got bumped and would bump others out.”

MadMong0 adds, “We went hard for about 3 or 4 hours.  In that time we held about 2 ½-3 hours.  When we got bumped around 5 hours in, we decided to go to sleep and try again in the morning.”

And try again they did!  MadMong0 recalls getting up the next morning, making coffee and contraband, then getting to work.  “We bumped out a great player. We held it most of the time for the next several hours.  I think it was around 10 hours in total.”  There seems to have been a lot of excitement and participation for the event as the ACP kept switching hands.

BazzaBella speaks up, “we knew ACP switched hands a lot while everyone slept.  We just had to make sure to have more hours in.”

You Can’t Do it Without the Team

My entire interview with STP. had a common theme.  You simply can not win ACP without a quality team.

“What’s it mean to be in an alliance? It’s not just collecting gifts and doing events. When you’ve been playing together for so long, you’re family. And a family works together. Just need to  send what Rally lead needs.” – XxxSkandxX (STP.)

I am greatly impressed with the way so many members, both big and small have helped in the win for MadMong0 and the whole team.  MadMong0 speaks of his team proudly, “we started being hit with masq/op rallies.  We knew a stronger one was coming and had to adjust as the rally was marching.  It was incredible the way the team not only sacrificed but filled exactly as asked.”  Everyone seems to have been alert and ready for this event.

“Good Leaders are backed by good rally fillers”-Stormy (STP.)

“Having the best base isn’t always the key to ACP…. the best team and strategy is.”-MadMong0

Congratulations to STP. and the new Alpha Commander, MadMong0 for winning the April ACP Event!
