ATTACK!!
There is nothing quite like the exciting thrill of searching out a target and annihilating them with quick and decisive action.
A few months ago, I wrote an article titled From Trapping to Attacking Our Exclusive Guide on How to go from a Defensive to an Attacking Account. I discussed the many ways to transition from a purely defensive base to a base that can take out enemies by choice instead of waiting for the enemies to come to you. You can follow the link for some of the areas to focus on when transitioning.
This time around, I would like to talk about Attack from a player perspective. Well-known, all-around awesome WWR General, Boostcobra from the ~InK alliance, has agreed to sit down and talk with me about his experience in the game and why attacking is his new love.
Gameplay History
I asked Boostcobra, better known as “Boost” or “Boosty” to those that are closest, to let me know a little bit about his past in World War Rising.
At First
Boost: I started off playing the game in late 2018, and I had no intention of playing the game for more than a week. The more I played and I started looking into the game, I loved it. I was 16 at the time and I didn’t have the money to spend like the rest of these guys. Because of that, it was a challenge for me to compete with the guys spending a couple of grand a week when I could only spend $20 in a few months, but I accepted the challenge.
I knew that if I put my head to it and focused on my base, I could defend against these big guys with my tiny base. Well, I continued to play like this for a while, and then eventually I dropped a little money on my base to become a better defender. As I built my base to become a strong Defensive base, I realized that my attack stats weren’t far off from the average attacker, so I focused on the attacking boosts in my base. Then one day, I decided to try attacking, and the base I attacked burnt, and it felt amazing to be on this side of the game. That went on for a while and I eventually quit due to personal reasons.
Finding Attack
I came back to the game months later. I was a defensive player for a while, until one day I capped this player and I gave them some suggestions on what they could do to improve. They listened, and I realized that I wasn’t just a defensive player, I knew as much, or more about attack as I did defense. This person gave me the opportunity to be a driver for them, and I exceeded their expectations. I was burning everyone in the region and it was amazing.

I ended up leaving the game for personal reasons once more, and I came back 6-7 months later as a trap. I quickly got bored of trapping and used my trap to hit other bases. I would just send “Yolo” merc marches at people, and they would burn.
Going Home
I felt as if I’ve always been an attacker on a defensive base, and at this point, I was tired of my region in general. So, I got in touch with TheRealMatt, aka the leader of ~InK, and I asked him if he would find me a base in his alliance/region (#535 Etamin) After a few weeks, he found me a base. So, I went over there on my new base, and we were zeroing everyone in the region and nobody was safe. Even the cc130s were shielding from us, and at the time cc130 was the cap (highest level Command Center). So overall, ~InK is by far the best alliance I have experienced in the game. TheRealMatt and I both in the same alliance are a bit deadly. 😉
Let’s Talk Attack
Boost and I then discussed attack in general.
Boost: This game is designed to be an attacking game, you know there are lots of defenders also in the game but that’s not by choice. There are very, very few people in WWR that would pick defense over attack. Attacking takes money and lots of it=. While attacking with said money, you don’t want to just blow it and lose everything. So, it’s a challenge to not kill all of your mercs/troops while attacking other players, and that’s fun.

When you continue attacking, and you end up burning or possibly zeroing one of the big players in this game, then you have bragging rights. Those reports go down in history. These are the types of things that make attacking worth it, we don’t want to hug troops and sit around not doing anything.
We want to attack, we want to burn people, we want to zero people, and that’s exactly what we do. -Boostcobra (~InK)
Three Main Reasons to Attack
People chose to attack in this game for many reasons. Some do it for the thrill, some to defend others. I asked Boost what his main reasons to attack were.
Boost:
- Personally, my main reason would be people saying “You Can’t’. That’s what I love to hear. It quite literally feeds my desire to play the game. I love the challenge. Nothing in this game is impossible. 😉
- The adrenaline rush makes it worth it. There’s a point when you’re attacking/zeroing someone that you know you could possibly lose tons of money or you could get the zero successfully.
- I think another big point to attacking is being able to share the enjoyment with your teammates. An alliance is a big part of the game, so when you burn/zero someone and they congratulate you, it means a lot.
Looking for the Right Target
Finding the right target is critical. I asked Boost some of what he looks for when trying to find the ideal target.
Boost: This is very important, with our attacks currently there’s a lot of money on the line when we send out even a solo. I personally feel like Squad means a ton right now, if the defender has a bad squad that’s an instant giveaway that we can zero you. Another big thing is a Special boost that makes looks be deceiving, so I watch out for that as well.
Which do You Prefer: Attack or Defense?
Boost: It honestly just depends on where the game is at, like right now I prefer defense. Purely because people think it’s impossible to defend when it’s not.
Gameplay in the Future
Details may change, but the game itself will more than likely keep the same mechanics it always has. Certain rules remain constant. I asked Boost what he saw in the future for World War Rising.
Boost: The game will always remain the way it has been for the past 2+ years, the scale will always tip one way or the other on defense/attack. Personally, I’m prepared to adapt to any new changes. You can’t sit still in this game and expect to always be successful. The game moves, so you have to move with it.
