Our World War Rising Command Community Member of the Month for April is none other than… *Drumroll* Catmonster! Thank you for everyone who participated in the voting process. Please don’t worry that if your pick didn’t win, there will be multiple attempts to vote for them throughout the year! So please, relax, and enjoy a little more information about your Community Member of the Month, for April, below:
What do you enjoy the most about WWR?
For WWR there are two aspects that I enjoy. I like that at its core it is a team game, but with individual aspects. So that it forces you, like in life, to not only work together but also to take responsibility for standing on your own two feet. The team aspect also allows you to work with people and meet people that you would have never otherwise in your life.
The second thing is that while some games are not mentally challenging, WWR has formulas and math which you have to learn to be successful or have a very good friend who knows them and can break them down for you.
So again it isn’t just building a base and hitting something but it is more of what those combinations of troops, banners, gear, and other items are to make you successful.
What’s your favorite part of the community?
I think the people are for the most part wonderful. We aren’t all going to get along in life, and that happens in a game as well. But WWR has a great sense of community and laughter as you can see in the WWR Command Line Chat.
I think we try to help each other learn and grow so that the game in itself can be successful too.
Even if it is just something as simple as TheRealMatt beating me at garrisons because his arty is stronger than mine, it makes me want to learn when other people show me where I’m deficient.
What advice do you give to new and advanced players?
I will offer no advice to the more advanced players than me. Matt, Mayhem, Destro, Roy, Ginger, Goober, and all the others can play circles around me and I would not even try to insult them by putting me on their level. But for those new players, I offer you this. Enjoy the game, and remember that is what it is.
We play with emotions sometimes, which I know not everyone agrees with, but at the end of the day if you need to take a step back for a few minutes to find the fun again, do that.
Also, don’t buy every pack you see just because it has one thing you want. It is a business on the development side, and we need to be discretionary in what we spend so they provide us the best packs we can get.
What are some of your favorite memories of WWR?
I started this game as a lark to get points in another game and then never left. As I had never been in a mobile game, I had no idea the power of an alliance. So I was building just so people would stop attacking.
Then a base named Fanty in the Italian Friends Alliance (ITP) mailed me and asked me if I wanted to join. No sooner had I said yes, then instead of inviting me, another r4 missled me but I went anyway. That was when I realized the power of being in a group of people with a common goal in this game – no matter if it is to burn everything or laugh and learn every day.
The second memory I would say is shifting my game focus from being a more passive player to that of one of an attacker in GFKD. It started over a few alliance moves, but GFKD helped me get to the mindset that troops are meant to die, and while yes we should play smart, sometimes just yolo and try.
I think both these memories also translate into my real life which makes even more of an impact.
What’s your favorite Ice Cream?
Mint chocolate chip. And it has to be the artificial green coloring – makes it so much better.
What’s your favorite Taco?
Not following directions here.
So my favorite burrito is the California burrito from Ortiz’s Taco Shack in San Diego.
It is amazing if you are ever there.
What’s your favorite Coffee?
I don’t drink coffee, which many should be happy about as I’m hyper enough. I do love a good green tea latte from Starbucks, though.
