You’ve done it now… that’s right, you have decided to enter the magical realm of online mobile gaming.  Your adventure has begun! Welcome to the World War Rising Family!

The tutorial is complete. “What do I do now?”, you think to yourself as you scratch your head.

If you have never delved into the world of gaming, it can be confusing as to what you should do next. I have played mobile games for almost a decade, and I am still constantly learning. There are a few things that are important to know as you continue to build.

This article is being written for the true beginner. Hopefully, it will help you get on the right path to the amazing adventure that is World War Rising!

There is So Much to Do!

Learning how to properly play MMO Games is no small task.  There are literally thousands of different details that go into building your base.  While that idea may sound daunting, there are lots of things that can make the process easier.

One of the ways to make knowing what to do much easier is by joining our amazing online communities.  There are daily discussions on a variety of game topics. Join the Command team and the rest of the WWR Community on the Discord, Line, and Facebook Social Media Chats.

Find Your Team

First and foremost in the game itself, find a good alliance.  This is your family, your team, your brethren on the battlefield.  They will help you grow, entertain you, and help you take out your enemies.  There is a lot that goes into finding the right alliance.  Some tips for finding the right one can be found HERE:  The Alliance: A Mini Society Within Itself.

Your alliance family will be one that could very well be a part of your life for many years to come.  Choose wisely!

Acquiring Items Through Events and In-Game Purchasing

Obtaining items is absolutely crucial to do anything in WWR.  You need resources and other items to build buildings, do research, make heroes stronger, and all the other little things that help you to improve the strength of your account.

Items can be obtained in a few different ways.

You can earn items in events.  If you go to your event tab, you will see several options to earn rewards.  The event window displays events currently taking place, how many points you have earned so far, and the amount of time remaining in the event.  If you click on an individual event, it will tell you the exact way to earn the prizes and the items you will receive for completing tier goals. Events last for different amounts of time ranging from a week or two to one hour.  Be sure to pay attention to the exact actions you need to do to achieve your tier goals.  Typically the best prizes are the last tier.

Sometimes the game will surprise you with a hidden tier, so make sure you always check that the bar is complete and you have achieved all of the prizes that you can.

While you can absolutely play World War Rising as a F2P (Free to Play) Player, most get impatient and want to improve their progress in a more timely manner.  By purchasing packs, you receive your items upfront instead of grinding events or farming type methods.  You can learn more about Pack purchases HERE: A Guide to Pack Spending in WWR

You can also obtain items by farming.  Sending troops to tiles can bring back resources needed to progress as well as materials needed to build gear to make your hero stronger.  In addition, you can obtain tokens that are good to achieve certain prizes in events. You can learn more about Farming HERE: Farm Life is the Best Life

Buildings

To Build or upgrade any building, simply click on the building you would like to grow. The screen that opens will show you the requirements to build as well as the benefits that each upgrade offers.  Click on Upgrade to begin the build.  Don’t forget to click on the help button to receive Riley’s help and allow your alliance to help you reduce the time of your build.

Shortly you will be able to obtain gear that will help reduce the cost of the building.

Pay close attention to what each building offers.  This becomes more and more important as the game progresses.

There are two sections that allow you to choose which type of building you would like to build.

On the inside of the wall, there are several plots that allow you to build Power Plants that provide Armor for yourself and your alliance, Mash that provides you with health stats, and Barracks that provide you with attack stats.

While it is difficult to say exactly which building would work the best for you, many players like to build one Barrack, one Power Plant, and have the remaining buildings be Mash.  Health stats are often the most difficult to come by.  In addition, Mash expands your hospital capacity.  This means that when you are attacked in your base, a certain number of troops will go to the hospital instead of dying.  You are able to heal these troops at a greatly reduced cost versus training more troops. (On a side note:  In the beginning, I recommend keeping your troop capacity similar to your hospital capacity until you get the swing of things).

Outside your wall, you have the option to build on plots that can produce one of each of the four resources needed in the game to build and grow.  These plots can be turned into a Farm (food), Quarry (stone), Lumber Mill (wood), or a Mine Shaft (metal).

How can I survive on one resource, you ask?  Trading with others that may have a similar plan but with different resources helps quite a bit.  It makes for a fantastic alliance project early in the game.

Do not worry about making a mistake when choosing which buildings to build.  You can easily demolish a building and build a different type of building if you change your mind!

Research

Any gamer will tell you Research is key.  It is the foundation of your strength, your power, your awesomeness.  Research does everything from increasing important battle stats to reducing the cost of the building.  Your researches level should ALWAYS be maxed to your command center level.  If you build your command center too quickly without the research to back it up, you will not be as strong as your neighbor of the same level that took the time to research.

At the beginning of the game especially, this is the main source of your strength.

There are several different types of research. At the beginning of the game, you start with Missile Research, Hero Research, Defence Research (here you can open wall traps), Combat Research (here you can upgrade troop tiers to train), and Economics Research (Especially good for Building cost reductions).

To begin researching, click on the Research Facility.  Pick a Research tree to begin.  Many players like to start with economics to help reduce the cost of growing, while others go straight to combat to build their stats. Once you are inside the research tree of your choosing, click on the very first research.  On the next screen, you will see the cost requirements and the benefits to each level.  While researching, oftentimes you will bounce around a tree in order to research the next item.  If you get a little lost, click again on the requirements to see which other research must be completed first.

Your goal is to increase your stats as much as possible at all times.  Make sure to read what each research does so that you understand your growth.

Eventually, there will be many other trees added to the Research Facility.  Understanding the research early on will help you to understand what comes later.

Heroes

You begin the game with Riggs.  Riggs is a very versatile hero and can be skilled to help you reduce the cost of growth.  Doing actions in the game such as attacking will earn you experience and help level your hero more quickly.  The higher your hero level, the more skill points you will have to add to hero skills to help reduce the cost of growing, attacking syndicates, or even some combat stats as well.

To skill your hero, click on the hero icon in your city view in the upper left corner.  On the next screen, you will see gear slots, your stamina and experience bars, and three buttons towards the bottom.  The left button labeled “Skills”  is where you can distribute your hero skills as you need them for whatever action you will be performing.

Early on, you can save on building or make yourself stronger by reskilling your hero to make Riggs more powerful to perform that action.  Add minimum skill points to get to the skill you need.  Once you are able to get to that skill, max that skill.  As an example, you don’t need research speed maxed if you will be hitting syndicates.  Always skill for the task at hand.

Gear is another important item to think about when setting up your hero.  You can view what different types of gear do by visiting your armory (towards the left side inside your walls).  Here you will see all the possibilities of gear you have available to you to create.  Each piece will tell you exactly what it does or what stats it gives and what you need in order to build that gear. (Protip: Wait to build gear until you can make the gear at legendary status)

You will need to work towards building different types of gear to assist you with different types of tasks.  For example, some will help you to grow through building and research by reducing timers and costs.  Some will improve a heroes attack to help kill syndicates.  Yet more gear will help you to defend or attack.

Gear becomes increasingly specialized as the game progresses.

Random Thoughts

Some various things that are extremely important to do regularly:

Review your stats constantly. You can view your stats by viewing your boosts.  You can click on your power in the city view to see your profile.  Once on your profile page, click on BOOST right underneath your avatar.  Here you will be able to watch your stats progress.  It’s a good idea to compare stats to other alliance members so that you can be sure you are on course if you are unsure.

Read, Read, READ! Read everything.  I do mean EVERYTHING.  Read what every research does, every building, every piece of gear, every hero stat. All of it.  Also, pay close attention to the Blog.  This can be found in the MORE section of your menu on the bottom of your city screen.  Blogs provide event information, updates, and other important information.

If you stick with one thing at a time you will be stronger.  Evening stats out only dilutes them.  What is the point of skilling for training if you aren’t training? Instead, those stats can be used towards the task you are doing to make you that much stronger or more efficient.  In a similar way, when attacking, stick with one troop type.  You can skill for that type instead of spreading yourself thin over several.

TEST! In between times of war, test frequently.  Try skilling your hero tree differently and see what happens.  This will help you to understand the dynamics of the game in a more practical way.  There are many many things to test.  If you have a question about anything, frequently the answer can be found by simply trying a few things out.  Remember to compare properly, you need a controlled test.

First Pack Purchase Consider purchasing your first five dollar pack.  Pick the pack that has the second building/ research queue.  This will save you a considerable amount of time in the long run.

Maintain a Shield If you are shielded, your troops can not be killed.

Player Expertise

I asked the current WWR Community what they wish they had known at the beginning of the game that they know now.  Keep an eye out for these topics as they come up in-game!

“I wish I knew how to use the right gear when researching, building etc…to save on resources!!! I also wish I knew how not to get zeroed!!! Become a trap!!!” -Perfct Shock (BOSS) Saiph Region

“I wish I knew the importance of hero skills when I was younger base.” -DarkZone1

“I wish I knew that trapping was a spectrum and not a defined playstyle. Through my experience playing as what is probably the first ever “CP trap”, I’ve learned that the trap isn’t the base. It’s the player playing the base.” -Unburnable/Hakoshi (2Shy), Flint Region

“I wish I knew exactly how many plans (base cost) every building and research tree would cost. And which mercs would be good later.” -Htroggdorr/Htron (RON) Region 267

“I wish I knew what to spend on early on.  Give it a month or two and stay below 15. Knowing about the mixture of banners, gear, hero, and emblems that drastically reduce the rss drain on research would have helped.” – I GOT THIS! (BoSS) Saiph Region, (Hi) Granite Wilderness Region

“Main thing I wish I’d known at the beginning was how to make gold gear.. not just making whatever I could, but waiting till the percentage was 100% for gold..” -Sydney01 (Stnf) Magnesium Region

“That the game is a huge money trap (despite people warning you) 😬”– Cy Kosis (Sefi) Algorab Region
