Welcome to the 10th Edition of Alpha Commanders
Alpha Commander is the ultimate title in World War Rising. There is no greater challenge to achieve. Players from every timeline port with their perspective region to battle it out for the coveted win.
This month highlights three teams! One the most winningest team thus far, a second win for an alliance with a new Commander, and a brand new region with a new team taking the top spot!
Please join me in congratulating, xl Mayhem lx with Sefi, Best in #HAL, and 5forfighting in the BRWL alliance! They came out as champions in their perspective timelines and told me their thrilling tales of achieving glory!
Sefi and Kilz Come Together for a Groundbreaking Win!
In the oldest timeline, an unprecedented joining of the Kilz and Sefi alliances brought a staggering win home with teamwork and cooperation. Not only did I sit down with the team to discuss the win again after the event, but I was also lucky enough to fully participate for the first time in the intensity of an Alpha Control Point battle!
Seeing first hand what it took to be called a champion was an incredible experience, and one I will never forget! The respect I have for every team to ever win has been increased tenfold after seeing what it really took to be called the Alpha Commander.
Mayhem and the rest of the Kilz/Sefi team sat down with me and reminisced about the details
“It was lots of fun to work with May. It was great to work together to accomplish one of the most well prepared ACP’s from Defense to Offense.” – Goober (Sefi)
Preparations Like Never Before
In the beginning, there was preparation. Lots and lots of preparation. This particular ACP event was unlike any other that had yet occurred. As the team settles and recalls details, xl Mayhem lx, the newest Alpha Commander from the oldest, cap cc 120 regions tells me had been toying with the idea of taking ACP for roughly six months. Roughly five weeks before the actual event, when he knew an experienced team could be formed, the idea was solidified and put into action.
Mayhem tells me, “there were so many incredible and talented players coming together. It was all or nothing, and we went for it.” Everyone knew how many teams were going into ACP, so we went through every single detail in my account possible, from serums to banners. He reminds me of how hard IDKWTFIMDOIN worked with him preparing spreadsheets and finding the best boosts possible.
“Everyone understood what it would take to get ready,” IDKWTFIMDOIN speaks up. “This was my first glimpse into the intense work that it took to prepare for such an event. We spent easily over 60 hours on the phone discussing stats and other things we would need.” He tells me that learning first hand what needs to be done gave him a great deal of respect for the event.
Even More Preparation
Goober29, the mastermind behind the battles, tells me he realized early on that the key to this ACP would be the ability to promote mercenary troops.
Goober says, “As we noticed other teams preparing, we went into overdrive to prepare certain mixes for the offense and defensive marches. We knew this one was a different animal, and we would not be able to just walk into ACP as we had done in the past.”
We had players work tirelessly to prepare what troops we were able by farming and rigorously working events he says. I myself witnessed the intense effort with which Sefi prepared as an entire team to make sure the ACP core team was properly prepared. It was a monumental task and awe-inspiring to watch.
Both alliances worked tirelessly around the clock farming to make sure that the resources would be there to promote what troops would be needed.
Early on, we created a room for both teams to communicate. The teams would explain where each side was at, provide other valuable sources of information, and intel gathered from the enemy teams we would be facing by many members on both teams.
“This ACP really put a spotlight on teamwork, and we couldn’t have done it without each and every person’s contributions, I couldn’t be more impressed with how hard everyone worked through prep and the event.” – Selneth (Sefi)
Selneth, the r5 in Sefi tells of other preparations that had to be made, such as finding out which members had which troops, where gaps would need to be filled, and making room for the visiting Kilz members.
“The separation is in the preparation.” – WhiteWade (Kilz)
And It Begins
Words alone can not express the sheer excitement of the combined Sefi/Kilz lead with Mayhem at the helm and Goober ready to put together battles. We all gathered on a Line call and got ready for the event that everyone had worked so hard to prepare for.
My heart raced as the clock counted down and the excitement began! Everyone had a plan of where to port in and many team members were able to secure front row spots quickly, including myself.
I was giddy as I watched the rest of the team port in and Mayhem quickly began sending his marches toward ACP. We didn’t make it in first! Then the nervousness set in… Second! Nope, not in second either. Mayhem’s march sped towards ACP and bumped out the holder, Misso from the (MSW) alliance! Goober began giving directions as the rest of the team enacted preassigned roles.
The excitement and seriousness could be heard in the leader’s voices as commands were given. In less than half a minute, the ACP was set up entirely to plan, and we were ready to go!
Mayhem laughs as the team recalls those very intense moments. “I tried to port in on the front line but the spot I chose was taken by one of my favorite teammates,” he recalls. “If not for Goober’s mix, I know we would have been booted out immediately as other marches quickly tried to take over.”
Goober mentions all of the behind the scenes operations that took place. People had been preparing for a long time.
Goober appreciates everything the team did to get ready. “It was like starting with a clean slate,” he adds, “we showed complete domination of every rally sent and we were ready to go all night. We ended up over-preparing mostly because other teams weren’t sending exactly what was needed to successfully bump us out of ACP.”
Quality Control
As the battle continued, Goober again explains how the defensive mix had to be adjusted according to the incoming marches. He knew the attacker’s main objective was to break through the front line of the defending ACP troops and adjusted to every incoming march to be sure this would not happen.
“Spirits started to break,” Goober adds.
Sel speaks up saying, “We went in to lose a lot of mercs, but didn’t.”
There were many incredible rallies that tried to break the mix within. The team agreed a favorite was from ~Ink and TheRealMatt. “If we had lost that many t10+ troops, we would have been done. They were irreplaceable once ACP started” Goober said
All team members helped as Kilz members came over to Sefi to give Mayhem tokens earned from Raid bosses and Chrisschank conducted subterfuge on attackers with scout bombs as they tried to rally. Rallies On Mayhem and myself were going on at the same time, presumably as a deterrent. Although we held strong, Mayhem and Goober tell me what a victory this was because of the amazing teams we faced. Thor from BK., Marco from @War, and obviously TheRealMatt and his team from ~Ink were incredible competitors, they remind me.
After approximately 13 or so hours, Mayhem decided to pull from ACP. Goober made an announcement in Region Chat that ACP was open to others. Then, after a few were beginning to feel ACP was broken due to the dominating results, Goober made a decision after discussing with Mayhem.
“To prove it wasn’t broken, we took ACP back,” Goober says. “Everyone thought we had to get in first and it was done. We wanted to prove otherwise. Any successful rally needs 3 elements. Everyone else sent 2, even if they were not always the same 2. We had the balance to break anything.”
Selneth adds, “We know what will break our own defenses .”
Mayhem recalls his statement during the event when deciding to take ACP back. “We didn’t get all dressed up for nothing,” he laughs.
Mayhem set the rally with a very specific troop composition and bumped the defending team out of ACP.
Were there Difficulties?
Something all of us realized is that it is important for other teams aspiring to compete at ACP to realize that it is not an easy task. There are complications that arise and difficulties that present themselves out of nowhere. I asked a few on the call to tell me what was most difficult for them about the Alpha Control Point battle.
xl Mayhem lx (Kilz)- Staying awake toward the end was especially difficult. Prep was a definite challenge. It was a great adventure.
Goober29 (Sefi)- Preparation was the biggest defining factor of this ACP. Cy, Ginger, Artz, Sel, Ludd, BlackDog, Doug, Lt. Dan, Any, Pixie, Desttop, and several others came together to help. The Sefi War Machine was in full force.
Ludd (Sefi)- Prep work was intense. Once you got into it, the end result was really nice.
DevilzCakeSF (Kilz) – Prep beforehand was definitely challenging. While I was holding, making sure all of the boost running was a challenge, but also very exciting.
IDKWTIMDOIN (Kilz) – Prep was definitely the biggest thing to get through. Helping May get the base ready was a bit challenging also since it was the first time I was involved so directly with an ACP team. It was a lot of learning to really accomplish our end goals.
Selneth (Sefi)- Making sure the team that did not port over to the ACP region was properly protecting themselves. The reality was if someone got rallied they were on their own during the event. I had to make sure that everyone realized what happened, happened.
Doug (Sefi) – I spent my time taking notes and watching May and Goober and just observed.
There was a constant spotlight on ACP and was clearly evident when any changes were made and suddenly a bunch of people would port in or scouts were sent within seconds. Goober mentions the need to be extremely vigilant so that you do not show your hand and give the enemy a report that is able to be used against you.
Future Plans for Domination
“See you in two months” –Goober 29 (Sefi)
Congratulations to Best with the #HAL Alliance!
Those of us here at WWRCommand would also like to congratulate Best in #HAL alliance, who by all accounts was an amazing competitor for ACP in the cap cc90 event! Although we were unable to interview Best and his team, we wanted to make sure that they were mentioned! Congratulations Best!
Introducing 5forfighting and the BRWL Alliance!
Last month I was lucky enough to sit down with 5forfighting and the BRWL alliance to discuss their very first ACP win in the cap cc70 regions!
This witty and talented alliance was a blast to talk to as they retold the battles that took place for them during the event.
Jackal tells me the team waited for months to compete in this event. There were several teases that it would be happening soon in blogs.
“We knew for a while,’ Jackal, the team’s war general, tells me.
Preparation is Key
5forfighting tells me that roughly a week before the event he began to go into overdrive to prepare his base for ACP. Some of the key items of importance were the Molotov squad and pushed extra hard for stats that boosted deployment. The last two days were the most intense while he boosted these things and master intel to make the base as strong and as ready as possible.
Jackal mentions the intensity the team studied to find the best troop compositions and merc boost possible to be fully prepared.
“We didn’t have a lot of opportunities to practice beforehand, unfortunately,” Jackal tells me.
Time to Rumble
Suddenly it was time.
The event had begun and BRWL was ready!
As the teams ported in around ACP, Unburnable from 2shy managed to get into ACP first. Members from BRWL tell me Unburnable actually made them nervous at times, sending rallies every 10 minutes with solos that followed other rallies that would hit.
The team tells me they liked using Clare with Talia to attack and Molo on Defense with the Midnight Dreadnaught.
Stacking Control Point Stats was the goal.
Brwl tells me of the amazing competition they experienced and how it enriched the win that much further.
Future ACP Suggestions
There are a few changes Brawl would like to see in future events. They felt the point system was not conducive to encourage others to participate as much as they would have liked to have seen. They tell me that bases that participated in the kill event and went and attacked bases had a much better chance of accumulating points for the event.
5forfighting suggested alliance prizes for killing in the war zone. Jackal felt kills should be factored in, but not as a separate event. Points reflected in ACP should involve the entire team holding, they suggest.
Congrats again to this amazing team! We here at WWRCommand look forward to seeing your names in lights in the future once more!
“I want to say how proud I am of 5forfighting. He’s done an incredible job making his base the best in the timeline for CP battles. not only does he not get bounced from the war zone with his squad and hero in the CP, he caps rallies in that condition.
Second, Jackal J is a genuine genius at figuring out what troop mixes work for a given situation, so when he calls out the mix and is able to get it, it’s about as close to a sure thing as it’s possible to have.
I’m very proud to have been able to play a support role for 54 and look forward to doing it again in the future, but because it is really a team effort to win ACP, I would like to see better prizes for reinforcing the CP rallies and defense in the future. I think many players didn’t have much interest in the event just because of how the point system was structured for the last event.” -JMB1911 (BRWL)
Special Thanks
This whole experience was undoubtedly one of the most fulfilling and exciting events I have been lucky enough to be a part of. The leadership to pull this together was outstanding. Even after the event, leaders continued to take care of their teams. Below are two messages sent as thank yous in chat when the ACP event ended.
I would like to share them to show the difference good leadership can make.
“This was a truly humbling experience. Without a doubt, this was the most epic battle I have ever been a part of in World War Rising.
Facing incredible teams like @War, .BK., and especially ~Ink made this win feel so much greater. It was fantastic to not only hold but have the opportunity to bump out teams in the ACP. I know how hard all the players worked to prepare, so thank you for the opportunity to fight against true warriors.
I am so proud to have had the opportunity to be part of such an incredible team with Sefi and Kilz coming together to unquestionably be some of the absolute best players in the game.
In Sefi, Selneth, Ludd, Ginger Grant, Artz, Cy Kosis, and especially Goober. They were incredibly welcoming and some of the most talented players I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
I have never seen a mind work like Goobers. He is a true mastermind tactician and it has been an honor getting to know him. This man knows the details of this game better than I ever even dreamed. He is a major reason why this win is possible and I thank him for all that he did. He has become family.
In Kilz I have to mention DevilzCakeSF, who is always by my side in battle, ChrisSchank for harassing the enemy with scouts, and the main man to make this happen for me, IDKWTFIMDOIN. He spent an unbelievable amount of time working around the clock, helping prepare the base. He worked harder than anyone for this and was my go-to for everything. Thank you, brother.
All of Kilz that came over to donate tokens was incredible. It was an outstanding team effort. Especially by Baddie, BEatenU, Chaldan, Pickles22, and Stacks that also helped with making sure I had the resources I needed for the event.
This win would not have been possible for one moment without the dedicated assistance of all of these people.
Last but certainly not least, I have to mention a special personal thank you to HappyWarrior for putting up with my ass for the last three weeks while we prepared (and the Starbucks during the event.) Thank you TSMOML.” – xl Mayhem lx (Kilz)
“You guys are amazing.
I know on the outside it seems like we did a ton of work and then not much happened. We prepared for a war against 7 other alliances and potential losses of 60 million mercs. It was a lot of work and preparation. We had to be ready for everything.
I expected them to bounce us and lose millions. We needed all hands on deck to fight a long battle, and this team delivered.
The reality is we broke their will. And broke it fast. Within 90 minutes they had lost over 50 million mercs. We had lost less than 5. I have never seen an ACP clear out faster than it did last night.
That is a testament to our preparation. Everyone was ready. Typically we are filling millions of troops after each hit. Last night we would fill 250k or so.
Please know how much I appreciate everything you guys did to show how great SeFi is. This is the first ACP we truly prepared for. And the results were complete and utter domination of everyone that tried to take it from us.
Thank you again. When we go for that title another time to be ready. Expect the worst. Be prepared to get us to victory, together.
I will kill your mercs. I promise.” -Goober29 (Sefi)
