NorthernGirl is our first female Champion and the feature for our Second Edition of Alpha Control Point Commanders!
For the First Time, We Have a Female Alpha Control Point Champion!
The Battle is over. A winner has emerged victorious. NorthernGirl of the StoneTemplePilots (STP) Alliance has claimed her title of Alpha Control Point Champion! This ACP was the second for the Mid Timeline regions and highlighted some of the amazing players and teams coming up in World War Rising.
I had the exciting opportunity to sit down with Northern Girl and some of her Alpha Control Point Teammates in a discussion about this past ACP. The brand new ACP Champion, NorthernGirl, MadMong0, Bazzabell, and Thekaratekid and I met to discuss the event at length. (Special shout out to Oxford10 who had Pneumonia at the time of this group interview. I am so sorry to have missed you!)
I would just like to thank our alliance for putting in such a great team effort and to all of the other regions that participated in this ACP. Thanks, you definitely made us work for the title!
How It Began
I asked the team how far in advance they began to plan for the event. Planning is very important, I was told. “We prepared for a while beforehand, “ Thekaratekid told me. “It began about two weeks before ACP and continued until right before ACP began on Saturday.” You can hear the excitement in his voice as he recalls the thrilling battles of the weekend before.
“We were finalizing plans when someone noticed some teams already present in ACP before it was even supposed to start, “ Thekaratekid explains. “We were caught off guard because we were still finalizing our plan, but we jumped over anyway.”
Thekaratekid continues, “Troops were already in the ACP. We sat back and waited to see if it would reset when the event was scheduled to start.” It did not reset. “I told the team, ‘Let’s do this!’”
Let’s Do This
Although the Alpha Control Point timing was slightly off, teams adjusted quickly. There was an exhilarating thrill in the air as teams continued to port in around ACP, glowing blue as the spaces surrounding quickly filled up. Alliances tested their mettle against each other and fought for supremacy.
MadMong0 tells me, “when we soloed, in the beginning, we got ACP.” He fondly recalls the beginning of the intense session of battles that came next. “The team filled quickly with amazing speed and precision.” He tells me how all of his team sent whatever mercenary troops were asked for. “There were a LOT of rallies the first few hours,” he continues. “We never went more than a few minutes without a rally. Sometimes multiple rallies hitting within a minute!”
STP lost the ACP at one point the team recalls.
Bazzabell tells me a bit of their clever strategy. “We had great success with Riggs and Hannibal to defend.” They told me more in-depth other techniques they employed.
MadMong0 chimes in, “after we regained with that strategy, we still had awesome action until about 2 or 3 am eastern time.”
“Things were a bit quieter around that time,” NorthernGirl recalls. “We took that time to regroup a little and prepare for the upcoming onslaughts.”
Strategy from the Best
I was impressed with the team like camaraderie that STP seemed to show each other during our interview. Each question I asked was met with a compliment for another team member.
“We easily had 20 other members other than the team actually in ACP supporting us with tokens from raid bosses, “ Thekaratekid says attributing much of the team’s success on the Alliance’s overall support. “Despite the fact the Raid Bosses were glitchy and kept disappearing in the beginning, the team didn’t let up. They contributed an incredible amount of tokens that double our stats, directly contributing to the win.”
I asked STP, how they felt it was best to communicate for these types of events?
“We tried just game chat in the previous ACP,” MadMong0 says. “It wasn’t ideal. This time we used Line chat.”
NorthernGirl adds, “We saved valuable time just by talking. We had someone relaying messages in-game in our Alliance Chat for those not on the call. It kept the communication going for everyone while the main team was able to focus on strategy and speed.”
This is not the first time the best players in the game have told me the importance of fast and reliable communication to achieve optimum success.
It really doesn’t matter how big and bad your base is, if you don’t have a team you’re nothing. I think a lot of people just believe it’s all about the money. Many people spend instead of really understanding it’s the team that’ll make you.
Dead Troops Everywhere
I asked the StoneTemplePilots team how they felt about troop loss during such intense battles. They tell me it’s part of the game. To be the best you have to beat the best. You’re gonna lose a few troops.
“We used mostly Infantry and Aircraft Mercenary troops, ‘ Thekaratekid tells me.
“I estimate we lost roughly 7 million mercs total,” MadMong0 also says. In a timeline where mercenary troops are fairly expensive, that can be a staggering amount.
“By the end of the night we used primarily Aircraft troops, “ Thekaratekid tells me.
NorthernGirl adds, “it was about teamwork. So many of our members helped. They gave their troops, knowing they would die. They made the difference.”
I would simply say, there is no “I” in team. Have fun!
I have mentioned how much STP values their team. After they successfully held the time needed to win the event, roughly 13.5 hours into the event, Bazzabell tells me, The StoneTemplePilots Alliance then looked to help other alliances and regions complete the event as well.
“We wanted to give others a chance, too, “ NorthernGirl tells me.
“What’s the point of continuing to hold and be selfish, “ Thekaratekid chimes in. “Others can try to score in the event.”
Ben Ova from the alliance (TR19) The R3SISTANCE admired the generous offer. “They wanted to make sure lots of teams got points. I appreciate a good team.”
Staying in the Game
I asked STP, what was the most important determining factor in winning? “Making mercs last,” laughs Thekaratekid. The rest of the group chuckles at the truth of the statement.
“We couldn’t have done it without the whole team as well, “ Bazzabell speaks up. “They gifted so many tokens and donated so many troops. It was fantastic!”
MadMong0 recalls a funny moment for the team. “Speaking of making those mercs last, “ he says, “make sure to send a hero!” The team laughs recalling the moment. We lost 300k mercs in one defense because we were missing a hero. I couldn’t see what it was at first, and then came the ‘wow’ moment.”
MadMong0 becomes more serious again, “Every team makes mistakes from time to time. It’s about the overall effort. Learning and moving on.”
Big shout out to Oxford10 who is sick with pneumonia! ACP is such an adrenaline rush.
We all work very hard on our accounts and put it all on the line for this event. Going up against the best of the best from the other regions is very difficult task.
Thanks to all of STP alliance for making this happen.
The Future Looks Bright
This solid team of close members with the eagerness to win has a bright future in World War Rising, indeed. I asked my four guests what they hope to see in future ACP events.
“It would be nice to have events that everyone could participate in, “ Bazzabell comments. “We only had the ACP Commander Event and one Kill Event.”
“Yes, definitely more events, “ MadMong0 agrees. “They completely left out an event for the Raid Bosses or any events with titles.”
“I would like to see an event for smaller players. A Control Point specifically for players under cc49 at our level, “ Thekaratekid also adds.
Also, the entire team is hoping to see an improvement in the glitches that occurred in this event. The time the event began was so off and Raid Bosses glitching so badly threw many players off. It was discouraging at some moments.
Fighting for the Alpha Control Point can be a thrilling experience for any player. We heard from our latest winners today, and see how exciting it can truly be. Being prepared is key. We have lots of other experts advise for you to explore to begin the path to your championship title as well.
