Welcome to the Sixth Edition of Alpha Commanders
This month’s edition of Alpha Commanders is extremely exciting! We have three teams walking away victorious, one of those teams winning ACP for the third time! I was lucky enough to speak with two of the teams about the intense battles they faced and supreme strategies needed to be able to emerge triumphantly.
O+G takes Away the Title for the THIRD Time!
Destro, also known as DarthVadar00 in-game, is now the second most winning ACP Champion thus far in WWR History! This month, he and his team achieved yet another victory in the intense battles that make up ACP.
“It is always great fun to participate in the ACP event. Strategizing, planning, and collaborating with team members is awesome. But the real excitement occurs when the plan is executed and success is achieved. The Darth and Des superb collaboration along with great team members has now achieved 3 ACP titles won by the O+G Alliance. We are all looking forward to competing for many more.” -Destro/DarthVader00 (O+G)
The Event Begins for O+G
Roughly two weeks before ACP was assumed to take place, Destro tells me that the decision was made to compete for the title once more. “I did ask everyone how many mercs I could kill,” Destro laughs as he recalls the planning stage for the event. “Otherwise, we just chilled and waited.”
Bright’s response, “all of them,” she recalls laughing.
Destro explains that a good ACP is always at the ready.
He tells me that his team is amazing at knowing what needs to be done and how to prepare without much direction needed any more. He adds, “We expected everything to be similar to the last event. As it turns out, it was.”
“It can take a lot of mental toughness to hold ACP when you’re taking rallies in game, but also having to block out the shade people are throwing at you. Trying not to let other players/teams get into your head, or get under your skin, requires a level of mental toughness that not all players possess.” -x BRIGHT x/ What The Fox
REBL alliance was the first to take ACP when the event started. The team tells me that at roughly 23 minutes into the event, they decided to set the first rally.
It turns out that’s all they needed.
Once Destro and his team made it into the ACP, they held it the rest of the event until they vacated and Sherriii took over.
Sheriii pipes up, “The whole event was really chill this time. We took it a little later into the event and no one even attacked for roughly 6 hours.”
Aimee and Bright had to keep us entertained so we stayed awake the team tells me, laughing. Bright says, “We weren’t on any phone calls, so we kept AC entertained.”
Then Comes the Battles
The team tells me that there was a time period that had some really fun and intense battles from some of the biggest and baddest in the game.
Destro tells me, “we lost around 25 million mercs during battles.”
There was an especially exciting moment when the competition tried a triple rally. The first time that three alliances coordinated successfully to attempt a boot from ACP and were still stopped by the O+G team.
The largest rally size sent at O+G was roughly 18.7 million troops!
The Keys to Success
“You want your team to be the best of the best. The whole team needs to be smart. You have to handpick your team. One person can ruin it. When you gain a significant lead, you have to exploit it until you achieve your goal.” -Destro/DarthVader00 (O+G)
Axeman explains the importance of team cooperation. “The team has to work together. No random chatter, no research, nothing other than focusing on ACP,” he says.
Destro also tells me he really likes to make use of the Mercenary troop, Masquerats. “The sacrificial lambs,” the team laughs.
A secret to a successful setup? In any Control Point, one of those secrets is the right emblems.
Destro used the Sleigh Slayer Emblem set for this event to help guarantee success for him and his team.
Future Goals for the O+G Team
Destro tells me about his passion for ACP. “I really would love to be the winningest ACP commander in World War Rising.” Currently, that means two more victories and he would claim that spot!
“Our team loves the event. We play for it. We love it!”, the team tells me.
Mid-timeline ACP Commander, Adina36
Currently, there are two cap cc 80 mid-timelines. The older of the two groups had an Alpha Control Point winner, Adina36!! He and his alliance, #HAL reigned supreme during the July 4th ACP event for their set of regions! Unfortunately, the team was unable to be reached for an interview, but we here at WWR Command wanted to convey our congratulations! Job well done!
Thank you to KriDdLe from our faithful line group community for their assistance with the blog post and her faithful attempts to connect the team with our Commander Team for an interview!
Introducing PoPT, HIT SQU4D!
One of the most entertaining interviews I have had to date, I was lucky enough to sit down with PoPT and the newest ACP Champ in the second cap cc80 Regions, 1 EZ 1!
This incredible team comes to us from another cap cc 80 region set and is definitely setting the world ablaze with their skill and blood lust for enemy troops! I listened with bated breath as they retold the exciting ACP event that occurred for them also on July 4th.
From Planning to the Beginning of the Event for PoPT
PoPT tells me they didn’t have a solid idea they would be competing until two days before the event.
Masv chimes in, “We have been planning for this type of event since day one, however.” It always pays to be prepared for anything thrown your way and PoPT was ready to take control!
Right before the event, cc 80 dropped as the latest update. They tell me about scrambling to get packs so they could achieve as many stats as possible before the event began.
WhoDat and Dex began planning battle strategies once the team was sure they would be going for the Alpha Commander title.
“Pack Money makes it possible, but the team makes it happen! No Team No Victory!” -Dex (PoPT)
Once the event began, only 2 or 3 of the team were able to port over. The American Independence Day holiday added extra complications to many teams as they waited for their “across the pond” counterparts to finish up with their hotdogs and fireworks.
Dex tells me, “we used that time to observe the enemy and see what adjustments we might need to make from our original plans going in.”
The first in ACP was xTOSHx with the (AOW!) alliance. They were knocked out by I
AM GROOT in the (RON) alliance.
Roughly 4 hours into the event, it was time for (PoPT) to take over!
Once 1 EZ 1 rallied, (PoPT) held ACP until the end of the event. They tell me about the amazing competition they had from other alliances that was constant. A lull around 5-10 est time was the only break they had.
“Take your time, it’s a 24-hour event after all”- Neon (PoPT)
Secrets from the Pros, (PoPT)!
One of the things I have noticed most teams do is communicate via Line Chat or some other means to verbally communicate while battling. 1 EZ 1 and his team are no different. The utilized Line to chat while holding ACP for roughly 18 total hours! Verbal chat can really save time in those crucial moments that speed truly matters.
“Know your sh&!t trust your team look at us living the dream” 1 EZ 1 (PoPT)
The whole team agreed that teamwork was the key to success. They tell me how they have players that donate troops, those that plan strategically, and those that organize the event.
They also tell me it’s important to take on one task at a time and work through that first. It helped them to be prepared to the fullest by the time the actual event rolled around.
“We before me”– WhoDat (PoPT)
“Mercs are meant to die, but if you didn’t learn from the loss, you will not be a master of mercenaries.” -Dex (PoPT)
Interviewing (PoPT) was a blast! Their laughter and camaraderie was contagious as I laughed with them as they told alliance stories and events that brought them together as a team. Team chemistry is so important, and this team has it in spades!
I look forward to hearing more from them as they move up in the command center level!
