Welcome to the Seventh Edition of Alpha Commanders

The Alpha Commander title is a challenge only a few are able to succeed at.  This month, we have two repeat champion teams, (Sefi) and (PopT) as well as a brand new team (BDTY) that fought for the great honor of the Alpha Commander title.

Three amazing interviews, three amazing teams. Let’s do this!

Sefi Remains Unstoppable

Over time, each group of regions begins to recognize teams that seem to be a cut above.  Way back when I first started, Sefi was an alliance that you could not help but notice.  I remember seeing them tear up region after region in Kill Events.

Later, I was fortunate enough to be a part of this amazing team for a time.  I was so impressed with not only the incredible family atmosphere they had but the undeniable killing drive that kept them constantly on top of the scoreboard.

Sefi has still got it.

Blog Announcement

For the THIRD time, Sefi has taken the Alpha Commander title, this time once more with Artz81.  Artz initially won the Alpha Commander title for the first time for the team earlier this year.  Sefi then had another commander, and now Artz81 holds it again!

“Seeing my team work together, without hesitation, with complete faith in its leadership really does make you appreciate it all.  These guys have been working together for a long time.  To be able to show they are the best, at the highest level of this game really is a testament to what SeFi has been all about.” –Goober29 (Sefi)

Sefi Prep and Go

Despite the fact that Sefi began preparations a few weeks previous for the event, it was still a mild surprise the day ACP was announced. Goober tells me, “I hadn’t even noticed.”  Fortunately, being a top-notch team means you are literally ready for anything at any time.

As soon as the event started, Sefi was ready!

Artz81 ported in, presets and boosts ready to go.  The rest of Sefi quickly followed.  The entire team knew their jobs, knew the plan, knew that ACP would be theirs.

As other players and teams ported in, Sefi prepared for the very first rally.  Although it hurt because only two squad members were defending at the time, Sefi held fast.

Then Comes the Battles

The team tells me many of the intense battles they shared, two of which they especially noted and respected, one from Anti (TMK) and TheRealMatt (~Ink).  TheRealMatt successfully knocked Artz out of ACP, causing Sefi to be forced to reclaim their goal.  Goober tells me the mix that booted Matt out of ACP is a mix he and the team have been using for months successfully.

Holding Off the Competition

“ACP could really be taken.  Everyone seemed to be sending 80% of what was actually needed. When we had to take it back, we just went with an old march that has been used and worked in the past.” –Goober (Sefi)

“We are always more than happy to donate mercs to their USEFUL death! ACP time, refer to the bylaws.” –Cy Kosis (Sefi)

While the battles continued intensely for a time, the team tells me the majority of reports were from the constant barrage of missiles sent to the bases surrounding The Alpha Control Point.

This event did not display the normal region boosts present in past events.  Other notable differences included many new alliances trying for their chance at the title as well.

How to Be a Repeat Championship Team

Sefi tells me how different rolls from members of the alliance are so crucial.  Selneth and Ludd worked tirelessly to help prepare the alliance beforehand through a variety of means, including searching for as many high-level pastures as possible. As the event approached, the team was prepared.

“It’s always great to get the team together.  ACP is the one event time zones do not matter.  We’re all there together having fun.” –Selneth (Sefi)

Anyone on the ACP team knew well in advance what was needed and who needed to take care of it.

Intense Battles

The attention to detail paid off, and Artz81 took the title once again after holding roughly 14 hours!

Congratulations to Artz81 and the rest of the team!

Artz did want to be sure to thank the players that helped with the victory:

Sheriii, DarthVader00, Bright, Mrs. Bubbly, Mr. Bubbly, and Amy

“It was fun seeing everyone working together.” –Sheriii (WAA)

New Faces Win in cap 80 Regions! Meet Professor LJ in (BDTY) Alliance!

One of my favorite things about writing these articles is meeting teams that have won this event for the first time.  This month, Professor LJ in the BDTY alliance in Region #423 Zirconium Provence decided it was time for him and his team to take the ultimate prize, Alpha Commander and ACP Champions!

Holding Strong

When I sat down with BDTY, I listened to the excitement that exuded from the team as we began.  I could tell that this was a very strong, family-oriented, and strategic alliance.  I jumped right in and asked Professor LJ what it was that made him go for ACP.  He takes a moment before answering, “I had always heard about it.  That was the goal, so it was always on the radar.  We didn’t have the team able to do it until now.”

To prepare for the event, KriDdle began asking the team about ACP a few days before it began.  The plan to actually go for the title was decided that day. The Alliance has been consistent in being aggressive in events and battling and holding Control Points to help prepare for the ACP battle appropriately.

BDTY continues to tell me that they received guidance from older timelines.  They also had a flexible plan in place depending on what was occurring.   “If plan A of soloing and quick fill did not work, they were ready to adapt quickly to plan B”, Dottie tells me, recalling how the ACP event began.

Professor LJ tells me, “This whole accomplishment was such an alliance effort.  We are so fortunate to have such hard hitters and those able to do multiple jobs.”

The Excitement of ACP for BDTY

The event officially began for BDTY when they will able to take the Alpha Control Point with a solo from they #HAL alliance before they were fully reinforced.   When they solo booted the troops, everyone quickly filled the needed troops, vehicles, and squad.

Defending Against the Best

They fought through steady battles before the constant barrage settled enough for the team to catch their breath.  Coming together was an impressive feat indeed for a freshly merged alliance that previously zeroed each other.  It was exciting to see how well the group worked together.

The team tells me about their expert use of Sky Wagens, Dragonfly, and ARMSV troops in the Alpha Control point that was able to hold off any more challengers the rest of the event.

They also tell me of brave Tom, the t8 Fokker that worked up the ranks from a runt t1, bravely trudging off to battle, living his life for the cause and never to be seen again.  While a touching story we can all identify with, Tom and other Fokker pilots like him will be remembered in this great win for BDTY.

The Event Comes to an End for BDTY

After roughly 12 hours, Professor LJ knew he had held the ACP long enough to become champion and vacated the ACP.  The team fell asleep after staying up all night or joined the others hitting Garrisons until the timer for the event completely ran out.

PoPT Alliance Wins Again! xXx MASV xXx is the New Alpha Commander in this Region Timeline!

PoPT Alliance has won again!  For two months in a row now, PoPT has won the Alpha Control Point Title! Congratulations xXx MASV xXx!

Commander Title

I had the ultimate privilege of sitting down with this incredible team once again.  Dex tells me that they were ready to go again the moment they won last month’s title.

They began to prepare immediately for winning this go around.  Some of the challenges they faced were trying to get mastery completed in time.  The new upgrade was something the team really felt was going to be crucial in the event.  The team divided up the task of getting ready.

“We are the team to beat.” – WhoDat (PoPT)

Before the event they were able to make sure that all research was maxed, Talia was maxed, and their Meister Gear and Wingman Gear were ready.

Resetting ACP

Right at the beginning, MASV sent a solo march at the ACP.  Unable to fill immediately, a second march had to be sent after another alliance (DSQ) reset the counter.  While this is not a  normal event for teams to deal with while begging the ACP event, PoPT took this hiccup in stride. (DSQ) was booted, and they took over!

The Crew has the Title Again

Members from the BIW team including Relax, Femme Fatale, and Rough Neck joined to assist for the event.

Once the team made it into ACP, they stayed for the remainder of the event

“All the things the alliance did was extraordinary.  Everyone was so solid.  Each player did their part to make sure the goal is attainable.”- xXx MASV xXx (PoPT)

The rest of the event seems to show that many alliances didn’t have the same support.   There was not quite as much participation as they had hoped, but held strong against all the rallies sent.

The alliance wanted to be sure to thank MASV for everything that he has done for the alliance and in general.  The team felt it was important to help him get the title he deserved.
